A Brief Description...

The parish of Huntley (which includes All Saints church on May Hill) has been in existence since at least the 1300's and the village is mentioned in the Domesday book. Huntley village consists of about 500 homes and is a fairly compact community made up of a mixture of local farmers, local light industry and commuters being accessible to both Gloucester and Ross on Wye.

St John the Baptist church is a stunning Grade I listed building with a separately listed organ that has undergone extensive refurbishment in recent years. The original 12th century church was demolished in 1861, except the tower. The tower was restored, and a spire added by SS Teulon when he constructed the new church in Gothic style. The internal carving is by Thomas Earp.

There is a weekly 11.00 am Sunday service comprising Holy Communion on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, Morning Worship on the 4th Sunday of the month and a lively family service on the 2nd Sunday of the month. All services are followed by tea and coffee and a time of fellowship. All are welcome to all of our services and the Huntley congregation are warm and welcoming.

Huntley Church of England school is situated just next to the church and the church enjoys very close links with the school. The Priest in Charge is a governor of the school, takes services of collective worship throughout the term and helps to deliver the RE curriculum through visits and talks in church. There is also a wonderful, dedicated 'Open the Book' team who visit the school weekly during term time and bring the gospel to the children in a lively and accessible way. Two of the worship leaders in the benefice deliver a programme of 'Experience' events for the school in the church for key festivals of the Church year.
